Most experts find, though, that for serious court reporting and stenography, the 1949 Simplified and, even better, the 1929 Anniversary Gregg Shorthand Dictionary is most efficient. Not only you can search definitions, but also words that have a certain letter pattern, or translations of English words in different languages. This 92-page book works a bit like a small dictionary of Gregg Shorthand Anniversary Series outlines. Ernest Horn in the order of the presentation of the words' principles in the manual. If one merely wants to know shorthand to take notes faster without much time studying the system, he or she may use one of the later systems. If he or she has good interest, determination, and time, Anniversary or Simplified is recommended.

Unlike traditional dictionaries, it lists derivatives and similar words along with their root words. I am not bidding on it myself. One will find that most Gregg literature is written in this series.
Therefore, I am relying on books such as this to refresh Gregg Shorthand Dictionary memory so that my note-taking is simplified. The only way to find this book is to go to just the right libraries, estate sales, and eBay auctions. It searches both words and phrases, and you can limit the search to just words if… I have added the Anniversary Dictionary to the site for quick reference, and the PDF is text-searchable.

If I could make one wish, though, I'd wish for the "Short Forms" and some examples of words used in sentences, or perhaps even illustrative dictation.
